Description:

Hypertension:

Blood pressure (BP) is the force exerted by the circulating blood against the walls of the arteries, which are the major blood vessels in the body. Hypertension is observed when the blood pressure is too high, which may lead to various cardio-logical problems.

Drug Introduction:

Telmisartan and Hydrochlorothiazide combination drug is an oral Antihypertensive drug. Telmisartan is under the class of Angio-tension Receptor Blockers. Hydrochlorothiazide is under the class of diuretics and belongs to the sub-category of thiazides.

This drug works by relaxing the blood vessels so that blood can flow more easily hence helping in lowering the blood pressure.

Uses / Indications:

Telmisartan and Hydrochlorothiazide drug is mainly used to treat high blood pressure. This is also used to treat heart failure and diabetic kidney diseases. The addition of Hydrochlorothiazide is to be used in this combination if Telmisartan by itself is not sufficient. This drug is recommended to be used with a proper diet and exercise regularly, possibly with other medications.
