• Diabetes:

Diabetes is a chronic disease that occurs either when the pancreas doesn’t produce enough insulin in the body or when the body cannot effectively use the insulin that is produced by the pancreas. Insulin is a hormone that regulates the glucose levels in the blood.

• Drug Introduction:

Vildagliptin and Metformin an anti-diabetic drugs. This drug is prescribed to patients with type 2 diabetes.

Vildagliptin is under the ‘dipeptidyl peptidase- IV inhibitor’ class of drugs. Metformin is under the classification of ‘Biguanides’, which reduce the production of glucose during the digestion process.

Overdose can cause Vitamin B12 deficiency. Symptoms of overdose include rapid breathing, irregular heartbeat, severe drowsiness, and severe nausea/vomiting/diarrhoea.

This medication is to be only used when prescribed by a doctor and NOT to be self-administrated.
